The region is served by direct flights to Ancona and Pescara airports.
You can take direct flights from Stansted and Luton to Ancona and Pescara with Ryanair, from Monday-Sunday.
At A Glance
One of the most spectacular regions, Abruzzo is home to two of the Apennine's mountains, Corno Grande and Monte Amaro. Although best known for the mountains, the landscape is diverse, offering ancient forests, a vast plain and a beautiful coastline. Many of the towns have retained a medieval feel, populated by warm and welcoming locals.
The region is served with direct flights to Pescara, although Rome and Ancona are handy alternatives.

Citta Saint'Angelo, Pescara
More infoPescara is Abruzzo's largest city, and host to the famous jazz festival in the second half of July each year. Families love it here for the beaches and plenty to do.
Civitella del Tronto, Teramo
More infoTeramo is situated near the confluence of the Vezzole torrent with the Tordino River and is a very old city, founded in pre-Roman times. For a long time it was a border place between the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and the Church State, and acquired a really special identity. Because of the difficulty in communicating with the other parts of the country, it stayed isolated for long periods of time.
Guardiagrele, Chieti
More infoThis is a beautiful, hilltop town about 18km south of Pescara, the main town in Abruzzo. Nearby is the famous Museo Archeologico Nazionale which displays a large range of local finds, including Roman sculpture and a huge coin collection.
Silvi, Teramo
More infoSilvi is a small seaside resort in the province of Teramo, located about 15 km North of Pescara, on the Adriatic Coast, in the Abruzzo region of central Italy.

Regional Food
Being coastal, fresh fish tends to dominate the menus. However, it is also a paradise for those with a sweet-tooth, look out for Scippelle M'Busse which are wonderful pancakes.
Local Wine
A trip to Ortona is recommended, as it is the home of wine for the region. You'll see lots of DOC Trebbiano d'Abruzzo and also try the rich, robust reds of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.
