At A Glance
An island with an extraordinary history, Sardinia is stunning with deep-etched valleys, forested slopes and imposing mountain ranges. The much-touted costline actually lives up to the hype, providing white sandy beaches trailing off into a turquiose sea.
Direct flights go to Cagliari (in the south), Olbia (in the north east) or Alghero (on the north west). We have indicated the most convenient airport against each property, but the island is relatively small with decent roads.

The Insider
Regional Food
Tomatoes tend to be used generously, with beautiful rich sauces the signature of many restaurants. These are mixed with great local produce like artichokes, fava beans, peas, aubergine and zucchini to form delicious dishes. Home baked breads seem to be everywhere. There are plenty of exotic meat dishes, including suckling pig and hare. And ... the island specialises in a range of sweet dishes including speciality biscuits, fritters, pastries and cakes.
Local Wine
The most popular local wine is the dry white Vermentino di Gallura, although most of the local wines, while not excelling, are very drinkable.
