Casa del Grano is immaculately laid out with lush well-tended lawns and paths linking its various buildings. There are six houses for rent. Each semi-detached house accommodates two sets of guests and have their own entrance pergolato for al fresco relaxation.
The double doors of the entrance open into the comfortable living/dining room with its own open fireplace for cosy winter evenings. There is one spacious double bedroom, a shower room with WC, and a compact, well-equipped kitchen with a fridge, gas hob, electric oven and sink. There's also a restaurant on site for excellent, pre-booked lunches and dinners, and an inviting shared swimming pool.
Please note: air conditioning is available at an extra cost and there is a final cleaning charge of 25 Euros, payable locally.
Casa del Grano is located on the eastern fringe of Basilicata, just over 20 kilometers from the Ionian Sea coast, in a valley. The valley is over-looked by the charming hill town of Montescaglioso. This secluded and peaceful valley is very rural, populated with friendly Italians, who appreciate the traditional way of life and are proud of their land and traditions. Here, they make their own olive oil, passata sauce, bottled peppers and artichokes and a variety of local specialties. A perfect base to enjoy the simpler things in life.
Montescagliaoso is 8 kilometers up the valley and here you can find all the essential shops, banks and chemists alongside the beautiful Benedictine abbey of San Michele. For the hustle of bustle of a big Italian town, the provincial capital of Matera is just 20 kilometers away.
Basilicata is Italy's last true wilderness, and therefore popular with our clients who just want to get away from it all. This is a land of high hills, deep forests and surprising, wonderful villages.
The region does not have any airports although direct flights to Brindisi, Bari and Naples are all convenient for access.
