Casa Casanova is a delightful house with amazing views from the living room's picture window and the balcony in the double bedroom over the jade green and deep blue waters of lake Maggiore. The ground floor has an attractive living/dining room boasting a lake view and open fireplace making it cosy in winter months. There is also a well-equipped kitchen with cooker, oven, fridge and dishwasher and also a shower room with WC.
First-floor accommodation comprises of a single divan bed on the landing and a twin or double bedroom with a terrace, lake view and an agreeable ensuite bathroom with WC. The house is very prettily furnished throughout. To the rear of the property is a lovely private garden, while the delightful swimming pool, occasionally used by the owner, is at the front of the property.
Please note: the open-plan staircase to the first floor has no railing and may be unsuitable for some, especially young children. There is a final cleaning charge of 110 Euros.
Casa Casanova is a delightfully romantic cottage, nestled above lake Maggiore, with spectacular views of the crystal clear waters and a lovely outlook onto the Borromean Islands lying in the middle of the lake. These mini paradises in the centre of the lake are named after the chief patron of lake Maggiore, Cardinal Carlo Borromeo and boast a baroque palace, romantic terraced gardens and they are overlooked by blue mountains.
The house is in the grounds of the owner's villa and attached to the caretaker's accommodation but nevertheless it provides excellent privacy.
A 10-minute drive takes you to the centre of Verbania town where all purchases are possible. However Stresa is the chief resort and the point from which it is possible to set off to explore the islands. Here it is also possible to take a cable car trip up behind the resort to the snow capped peak of Monte Mottarone, from where you can admire the beautiful panoramic views.
There are several direct flights from the UK to airports in Milan.
From Leeds Bradford you can fly to Milan Bergamo with Jet2. You can also fly from Manchester with Ryanair.
From Milan Linate you can fly from Gatwick with Easyjet, and from Heathrow with British Airways and Alitalia.
Easyjet flights from Bristol, Edinburgh and Gatwick, and British Airways flights from Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester go to Milan Malpensa.
You can fly from Dublin, Glasgow, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Manchester, Stansted, East Midlands, Newcastle, Bristol and Luton to Milan Orso Al Serio with Ryanair.
Where the Lombard rises into the Alps liesa string of deepest blue lakes which have long been popular with the well-heeled Milanese.
