Casa Varenna's accommodation comprises of two newly furnished apartments, both on the first floor of an individually owned palazzo. From the main entrance and hallway there are stairs or a lift up to the apartment entrance. A short passageway takes you from the entrance into a kitchen corner which is very well-equipped with hob, oven, sink, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine and spin dryer. You can see the lovely view from the balcony of the beamed living room, which also has a sofa bed. There is also an equally tastefully decorated double bedroom with fabulous lake views and a shower room with WC.
Please note: there is a final cleaning charge of 100 Euros payable locally.
Casa Varenna is a two minute walk from the main square of Varenna, grandly overlooked by The Royal Victoria Hotel, and where payable car parking is available. We recommend clients park here on arrival then utilise a free car park about 100 metres away. The hotel is also ideal as a breakfast location, or for a quiet drink in the evenings, overlooking the stunningly beautiful lake Como.
Varenna is a charming lakeside town located on a promontory opposite the fork where Lake Como and Lake Lecco divide. Much less touristy than its nearby neighbour Bellagio, it is peaceful, very quaint and quite idyllic - a garden town framed by green wooded hills and misty blue lake. Cobbled slopes revealing secret lake views are interspersed with bright bougainvillaea, cypress and pine trees. Muted birdsong and the distant hum of a lake steamer are the only sounds. The 16th century Villa Monastero has a classically Italian formal garden and is well worth a morning or afternoon spent in its cool Eden-like symmetry.
There are several direct flights from the UK to airports in Milan.
From Leeds Bradford you can fly to Milan Bergamo with Jet2. You can also fly from Manchester with Ryanair.
From Milan Linate you can fly from Gatwick with Easyjet, and from Heathrow with British Airways and Alitalia.
Easyjet flights from Bristol, Edinburgh and Gatwick, and British Airways flights from Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester go to Milan Malpensa.
You can fly from Dublin, Glasgow, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Manchester, Stansted, East Midlands, Newcastle, Bristol and Luton to Milan Orso Al Serio with Ryanair.
Where the Lombard rises into the Alps liesa string of deepest blue lakes which have long been popular with the well-heeled Milanese.
Direct flights are available to Milan (all airports) and Bergamo.
