Lake Bolsena is the largest of Italy's volcanic lakes boasting a 40 kilometre circumference. It is surrounded by a ring of fertile hills, black sandy beaches, backed by trees, and is dotted with characterful fish restaurants. It is a land of muted sounds and vast panoramas.
The house has two floors and is divided into two separate accommodations: the upper floor for the owners, and the lower floor, with private pathway leading to an independent entrance, is for our clients. The focus of the house is of course the lake and fabulous views of it abound from almost every window, but especially from the glorious pool (with furnished gazebo) and the shaded outside area.
The main accommodation comprises an open plan sitting/dining room and kitchen area. The kitchen comes complete with a 5 gas ring stove, electric oven, large sink unit, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washing machine.
There is one double bedded room with French windows and lake views and one twin bedded room, also with French windows and lake views. For storage, there is a seperate wardrobe area. The large and stylish bathroom has a bath, a modern shower, WC etc.
An unmade driveway leads across fields to electric gates, after which ample parking. Shared swimming pool measures 14m x 7m and 1.2m deep. The gardens are mainly laid to lawn and the house’s interior is modern but homely. Furnished outside area with gas barbeque leads to main entrance.
The nearest town for shops and essentials such as banks, and chemists, is Gradoli five kilometres away. But within a twenty minutes drive are the lakeside towns/villages of Bolsena and Capodimonte, this last one being the most picturesque of the lakeside villages, set on a promontory with an octagonal 16th century castle looking out over the lake's two small islands. Orvieto and the A1 autostrada, leading to Rome or Florence, are about 45 minutes away.
There are direct flights from the UK to Rome's two aiports: Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) and Ciampino.
Fiumicino: flights depart from Heathrow with British Airways and Alitalia. You can fly from Gatwick with British Airways, and from Manchester with Jet2.
