Residenza Via Assisi (Apartment in Rome, Lazio and Rome, Italy)

This has to be the ultimate pied a terre for those who want a central, very stylish, base from which to explore the Eternal City.

Our architect-friend, Mauro Bitetti, has taken the bare structure of Residenza Via Assisi and transformed it into a roomy, high quality and extremely tasteful apartment for two or four people accessed by lift/elevator. Housed in a private gated complex, the apartment is on the top floor so great views over Rome, and the Alban Hills, can be enjoyed from its enormous terrace and, even more, from its extra roof-top terrace one floor up.

Opening up into the fifth floor, you'll find a open, spacious living/dining room with fireplace and terrace access. Leading from here is a modern kitchen with fridge/freezer, oven and hob. There is also a shower room with WC on this level. Up the elegant staircase to the sixth floor and landing, you will find a convenient utility cupboard with ironing facilities. Beyond is a splendid bathroom with WC before arriving at the two bedrooms, one twin and one double.

Possibly the focal point for entertainment and spending time together is the large terrace, which has a barbecue, covered eating area and the most spectacular views over one of the world's most beautiful cities. Hidden away here is also a handy washing machine.

Up a spiral staircase to the seventh floor and you will arrive at the roof terrace, the perfect place for enjoying a cocktail or a glass of wine while chatting away the hours and spotting the sites of Rome.

Free parking is available but we recommend that you forget the car and make use of the cheap, frequent and nearby bus or underground/subway services to get around Rome. All types of shops, banks and chemists are in the near vicinity of the apartment.

Please note: the bed in the double bedroom is a good quality sofa bed.

Located in the San Giovanni quarter, a stone's throw from the basilica of Saint John Lateran, the cathedral church of Rome, and countless other attractions, this two-storey apartment is a gem.

How To Get There

There are direct flights from the UK to Rome's two aiports: Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) and Ciampino.

Fiumicino: flights depart from Heathrow with British Airways and Alitalia. You can fly from Gatwick with British Airways, and from Manchester with Jet2.

Ciampino: you can fly from Bristol, East Midlands, Newcastle and Gatwick with Easyjet, and from Glasgow, Liverpool, East Midlands, Luton, Stansted and Dublin with Ryanair.
