Villa delle Acacie is fully fenced two-floor house, partly skirted with a covered veranda and lots of outside areas from which to admire the views. One of these is the terrace below the house, reached by a few steps, that houses the furnished pool area (The pool measures 7m x 4m and depths of 1m x 1.3.). The villa boasts ample parking and beautiful illuminated gardens which are quite steep and terraced. They are naturally shaded by trees and so are fabulous even in the hottest of summer weather. Within the outside living space there is an outside eating space, in which to enjoy traditional Italian fare, complete with a barbecue and bread oven.
The main entrance of this remarkable villa is into the cool beamed living/dining room, which is cool in summer but warm and cosy in the winter months. The separate kitchen, from which there is conveniently outside access, is equipped with hob, electric oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and sink unit, and washing machine. This floor also has a lovely guest bathroom with a luxurious Jacuzzi bath and WC. Twelve steps lead up onto the first floor, which comprises of three tastefully furnished, compact bedrooms, one of which is a twin and two of which are double. There is also a shower room with WC.
Villa delle Acacie is a private detached house, built into the side of a tree-clad hill in this hilly-cum-mountainous area of Le Marche. The views are indeed majestic, more so than rolling Tuscany or Umbria, of high mountains, soaring to at least 1000 metres, that form part of the Sibillini mountain range. These mountains tower over the lower hillsides, themselves covered in a multitude of trees, which carpet the hill-scape in every imaginable shade of green. In fact this area is well known for its efficient network of ski runs and lifts and the ski resort of Sasso Tetto overlooks the side of our house.
The house is located above a secondary road but this is little used and is generally quiet. A short driveway leads to double gates and access to the fully enclosed grounds. The nearest town is Sarnano, just 2 kilometres away. This delightful town, with its fascinating medieval quarter and church of Santa Maria Assunta dates back from the 1200s. It possesses all the essential shops, banks and chemists.
Le Marche, also called The Marches in English, is situated on the eastern side of central Italy. It runs from the Adriatic beaches to the mountains of Appenines. Since most tourists visit he beaches,. Le Marche has remained untouched by mass tourism. Whenever tourists visit, their top destinations are Urbino, Pesaro and Ascoli Piceno, three of Le Marcheís principal towns.
The town of Urbino is a jewel of renaissance art. Hardly anything has changed since the days of Duke Federico of Montefeltro during the second half of the 15th Century. Travellers seem to be transported back in time when viewing the beauty of the Ducal Palace, a testimony of renaissance grandeur.
Pesaro, another of the region's provincial capitals, is an appealing seaside resort and a thriving commercial town. Among its main attractions are the Fountain with Sea Horses and Triton, Palazzo Ducale, the Church of St. Ubaldo and the Pesaro Cathedral. Because of its proximity to the sea, this area attracts beach combers as well.
Ascoli Piceno, the provincial capital of Le Marche, is a beguiling town that is known for its marble-paved main square, one of the most beautiful places in Italy. Aside from this, Ascoli Piceno boasts of fabulous buildings that combine the romance of the medieval and the glory of renaissance architecture. Such buildings include the San Francesco, Loggia dei Mercanti and the Piazza del Popolo, to name a few.
Other towns worth visiting include the Ancona, one of Italy's ferry ports to Croatia, Greece and Turkey; the Macerata, a town famous for its annual outdoor festival; and the town of Sirolo, though just one of the many seaside resorts, it is considered the prettiest on the Conero peninsula.
Other than architectural wonders, Le Marche also offers tourists a wealth of natural beauty. Visitors can go to the Frasissi limestone caves, or the Furlo Gorge, a natural pass through the mountains that has been used since the prehistoric times.
The best time to visit Le Marche is between the months of May and September. Although the temperature may be hot, the region would be seen in its full glory. Visitors will feast their eyes on green landscapes with the first tints of autumn, beautiful flowers, and everything would be bathed in the golden rays of the sun.
If there is one undiscovered gem in Italy, then by all accounts, it is most probably the quiet and dignified region of Le Marche.

The beauty of Le Marche is that it is accessible from a number of different airports, all with similar transfer times depending on where you want to fly from and where you are staying.
Direct Ryanair flights depart from Stansted and Liverpool to Ancona and Pescara, Mondays-Sundays. From Bristol, East Midlands, Manchester or Luton, we recommend flying to Rimini (Ryanair for Bristol/EM, Easyjet for Luton, Thomas Cook for Manchester), which is just north of Le Marche with many transfer times being similar to Pescara. There is a Gatwick option to Florence with Meridiana or to Rome Ciampino with Easyjet. Rome Ciampino can also be reached from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dublin and Newcastle (along with Luton, Gatwick, East Midlands and Bristol) and has the advantage of the route to Le Marche passing through some of the most beautiful mountainous regions down the spine of Italy.
