Above you are immense rugged cliffs and hillsides, while down and on your right you will see the tightly-packed, Moorish-style houses of Positano begin their steep climb from the azure bay and ascend even more sharply up the valley.
When dining al fresco, you will feel on top of the world, an emotion altogether more pronounc at night when you can look over the glittering lights of the town below.
This spacious apartment has been completely renovated and is comfortably well-furnished. Going up about ninety steps, you enter through the third floor front door into an open-plan living/dining room with a corner kitchen, equipped with a hob, oven, single sink unit and fridge/freezer. Shuttered double doors give way to the balcony.
Going down a corridor, there are two wardrobes on left and two bedrooms on the right. One has double beds and the other has twin/double beds, and both have shuttered double doors opening onto the balcony. There is one shower room with WC etc.

Apartment Il Terrazzino is located on the Via Marconi coast road, which is in itself wildly picturesque. Amalfi and Ravello are easily accessible for different brands of loveliness.
John Steinbeck said Positano is not quite real when you are there, and you will feel the same as you explore the narrow streets and steep staircases, which lead to terraces festooned with flowers and lanes flanked by cafes and small shops. A small beach, the majolica-clad cupola of Santa Maria Assunta church and the charming unflashy atmosphere are added bonuses.
There are several airports flying direct from the UK to Naples and Rome.
Naples: Thomson flies from Belfast, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, Birmingham, Bristol, Bournemouth, Gatwick and Luton.
You can fly from Gatwick with British Airways and Monarch, who also fly from Manchester. From Stansted you can fly to Naples with Easyjet.
The two airports in Rome are the Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) and Ciampino.
Fiumicino: direct flights depart from Heathrow with British Airways and Alitalia. You can fly from Gatwick with British Airways, and from Manchester with Jet2.
Ciampino: you can fly direct from Bristol, East Midlands, Newcastle and Gatwick with Easyjet, and from Glasgow, Liverpool, East Midlands, Luton, Stansted and Dublin with Ryanair
