Trullo degli Ulivi offers its guests the rare chance to stay in a beautiful trullo glorified by its soaring vaulted stone ceilings, with complicated church-like, and symmetrically perfect, arches.
You enter into a long sitting and dining room, which introduces guests to those magnificent ceilings. At the end a kitchen corner is well equipped with four-ring gas hob, electric oven, sink and fridge/freezer. There are two double-bedded rooms and two single bedded rooms. There are also two shower rooms with WC, one of which has a washing machine.
Around the Trullo, the gardens are lush, lawned, fenced in, with covered outside dining gazebo and barbecue. The inviting furnished swimming pool is kidney-shaped, and has an outside shower cubicle.
The architecture is stunning throughout the house. In one bedroom guests can even stare up at the bare inside of the conical roof. And all this in the local white or pinky-white stone, very cool! Beautifully restored and modernised, and at no expense spared, this trullo also blends very well with its surroundings, namely, the centuries-old olive groves, where the swimming pool also happens to be located.
The small town of San Michele Salentino is within walking distance of Trullo degli Ulivi and has the essential range of shops, banks, chemists etc. This being the Ionian-Salentinian area of Puglia, touring around is a delight - discovering abandoned beaches (the nearest 18 kilometres away), enjoying uncrowded unhurried towns and appreciating the sheer variety of the architecture and art.
You can take direct flights from Stansted to Bari on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays with Ryanair.
From Stansted you can also fly direct to Brindisi on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with Ryanair.
