One quarter of a traditional Sardinian house, this apartment is beautiful inside and out as well as being the only apartment with a well-kept garden and covered terrace - perfect for lazy al fresco breakfasts, sun-drenched lunches, candle-lit dinners or just plain relaxation - all framed by an amazing view. You will see an infinite expanse of blue sea stretching between two hilly headlands, one each side, with a strip of delicate golden sand. The garden is furnished for you to rest and enjoy the small lawn bordered by shrubs and colourful bushes.
The main entrance of the apartment opens onto a spacious living and dining room with a double sofa bed. There is a corner kitchen equipped with a fridge/freezer, sink unit and four gas rings, ideal for preparing traditional Sardinian rustic cuisine. Four steps lead you to your luxurious bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath, perhaps the best way to unwind. There are two double bedrooms, one with a magnificent view over the garden.
Please note: the cost for hiring a cot is 50 Euros per week, payable locally. There is a final cleaning charge of 55 Euros, also payable locally.
Please advise your flight details and estimated time of arrival at least five days prior to departure. Arrivals on 11th August must be for a minimum 2 week stay. Late arrivals after 20:00 hours are charged at 20 Euros.
Apartment Contessa is ideally located to enjoy varied excursions inland. Take the opportunity to explore the countryside's wealth of flora and fauna or head in the direction of the area's main town of Castiadas. Here you will discover the start of the enormous Sarrabus range of mountains, carpeted mostly by beautiful, thick oak forests, and as the last refuge of the Sardinian deer, you may be lucky enough to spot one. For those looking to enjoy the island’s coastline, the beach, a gentle curve of golden sand, is just 350 meters away and best reached by car from your hilltop location. The beaches are naturally sandy and therefore great for families. Apartment Contessa sits high above Costa Rei, a well-spread out Sardinian town interspersed and plenty of dark green areas, pines, palms and junipers lay beneath - this is the magnificent view that guests will enjoy from Apartment Contessa.
A very eye catching island, Sardinia has had great historic and strategic importance. Every Mediterranean power has controlled the island at one time—Romans, Phoenicians, Spaniards, Turks, even a pope. The northern coast of present-day Sardinia is a favourite vacation spot of Italy's extremely wealthy.
The island has a number of attractions: wild horses, flamingos, nun seals, great fishing, mountain climbing, Roman ruins, sailing, reef diving, water skiing, grottoes (the best is Grotta Nuova, near Cala Gonone on the east coast), and tranquil sandy or rocky beaches. Must-sees include the pink sand at Porto Ferro, the typically Sardinian town of Nuoro, Oristano (ruins of the Phoenician city Tharros), the Goddess of Fortune Temple in Porto Torres, Cagliari (the island's capital and largest city, with a good archaeological museum) and Su Nuraxi Nuraghe (an impressive Nuraghic fortress, north of Cagliari). The town of Olbia is the gateway to the exclusive Emerald Coast (Costa Smeralda), one of Europe's most important resort areas as it contains sites that span 3,000 years of history.
Direct flights go to Cagliari (in the south), Olbia (in the north east) or Alghero (on the north west). We have indicated the most convenient airport against each property, but the island is relatively small with decent roads.

From Gatwick you can fly with Thomson and Easyjet to Olbia. Easyjet also flies from Bristol. There are direct Ryanair flights from Birmingham, and Air France flights from Heathrow, to Olbia. Jet2 flies from Leeds/Bradford to Olbia. Olbia can also be reached from Manchester by various carriers.
