The owners of this villa have taken a great measure of thought and care into preparing for their guests, specially constructing an underground passageway - so you do not have to open and close two sets of gates and cross the driveway to get between villa and pool. The pool and garden are on one side, and a walled courtyard is on the other, of the private driveway which Villa Gatopardo straddles.
You enter from the courtyard directly into the homely living/dining room. This courtyard is beautiful, furnished, illuminated with high walls and accessed via double gates. The sitting area leads to a large kitchen which is very well-equipped, with table/chairs, gas hob, electric oven, double sink and fridge/freezer. Conveniently, a washing machine is outside. There is one twin bedroom and one large double bedroom. There is both a shower room with WC and spacious bathroom with WC. Parking is provided in the private driveway.
The inviting swimming pool measures 12m x 6m, with changing rooms and an outside shower. A beautiful furnished garden area replete with manicured lawns, exotic plants and trees surrounds the pool. It is the perfect spot for a little sunbathing after a quick dip in the water. Al fresco dining is a way of life in Italy, and so there is a fabulous covered dining area with barbecue and sink for you to adopt the Sicilian style of eating. The owners live next door hence courtyard, pool and garden areas are shared.
Please note: late arrivals after 20:00 hours will be charged at 50 Euros. There is a final cleaning charge of 100 Euros. Cot hire costs 25 Euros per week. All fees are payable locally.
Santa Croce Camerina is a reasonably sized town and we are 2 kilometres from it and the sea. Here all the necessary shops, chemist and banks can be found. But, for a bit more life and bustle, the provincial capital of Ragusa is only about 30 minutes drive away. Here most visitors tackle sightseeing in two stages: first the new Baroque Ragusa, built on a plateau after the 1693 earthquake, and then the quiet Ibla district, linked together by a rocky crest.
Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. It might be just a short journey from the Italian mainland, across the narrow strait of Messina, but it is a completely different in terms of atmosphere and attitude. Everything Italian seems a little more appetising here, not only the food but the history and culture as well.
Visitors discover that the Sicilian people are gracious, noble and welcoming and that the island itself offers natural and historic attractions of great beauty and enormous interest.
The main cities of Palermo and Catania feature some of the most exquisite architecture in the world, a legacy of the many great civilisations that have vied for control of this strategically situated island over the centuries, from the Greeks and Romans, Arabs and Normans to more recently the French, Spanish and Italians. There are large Romanesque cathedrals, the best-preserved Greek temples in the world, Roman amphitheatres and magnificent Baroque palaces. The continuous blue skies and temperate climate, lush vegetation and rich marine life all add to the island's appeal. Nature has given Sicily Mount Etna, Europe's tallest active volcano, a dramatic coastline and a fertile soil that gives forth much of the bounty on which the island's unique and delicious cuisine is based.
